Your reception isn’t the only portion of your wedding that needs good music. Good music should be present in your wedding from beginning to end. Yazz Jazz Entertainment provides a variety of musicians, live band performances, and DJ’s who can make each part of your wedding a musical success. A wedding can be divided into 3 segments: the ceremony, the reception, and the after-party. Our team of musical experts can help you plan the right music for each segment.
A musical prelude signals the beginning of the wedding. This sweet music helps settle guests and prepare them for the processional. Hearts pound, tears flow, and anxiety runs through your veins. This is it! You’re walking down the aisle and looking into the eyes of the love of your life. Within a few minutes, you’ll legally become a married couple. Each aspect of the processional usually has a different song selection; the bridal party marches to a different song from the bride. Also, you can choose any song you want for the bridal march, it doesn’t have to be “Here Comes the Bride”. Discussing your song selections for these aspects of your ceremony with your music coordinator makes it highly likely that this section will flow smoothly.
Music should also be present in the gaps in your ceremony. For instance, the signing of the official documents during the ceremony tends to last between 5 to 10 minutes. Playing music that entertains your guests during this period keeps them engaged.
Finally, the right music should be selected for the bridal party and newly married couple leaving the ceremony. Think carefully about the type of music you want to play at this point in the ceremony. You’ve just become a married couple. The music should create an air of celebration.
The reception tends to be filled with a lot of eating, speeches and performances. There needs to be background music while your guests eat. People who are performing during the reception should provide your music coordinator with either the name of the song or CD with the song beforehand. Preparation minimizes the risk of glitches and gaps between aspects of your wedding. A live band or DJ should also be able to listen to the speeches and interject music where appropriate.
The songs for all scheduled dances should be prepared beforehand. Examples of scheduled dances include: the couple’s first dance, the father-daughter dance, and the mother-son dance. Your music coordinator will have this music ahead of time.
The after-party is where everyone gets up and dances. The live band or DJ should be clear about the type of atmosphere you want to create. They should also be prepared with a variety of songs that will appeal to the wide cross-section of guests at your wedding.
Yazz Jazz Entertainment can be your expert music coordinator. We will ensure that the music for each aspect of your wedding is exactly what you want it to be. Tell us your vision and we’ll make it happen.
